Chicken training at PS 154!

We taught a chicken workshop to some 2nd and 5th graders at PS 154 - home of a new coop of 5 lovely hens, part of the Just Food City Chickens Program!  The new hens are a wonderful addition to the school, and some students are part of a team to help care for the hens!  These programs are exciting opportunities for students to learn about animal husbandry, health and nutrition and become experienced chicken-keepers!

Many had never touched or held a hen in their lives and several took on the challenge! The guests were then treated to pizeelles baked by our amazing volunteer Deb made from some of our eggs! We even had some extra mint for them to take home and enjoy at home! Thanks for visiting! If you want to bring your group, we offer free tours on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 am. Email lily@lilykesselman to sign up your group! We would love to have you!
