Visitors from PS 24 come for fun in the coop!

We had an amazing group of 22 3rd graders from PS 24 in Riverdale vist yesterday, meet the hens and enjoy the garden! The kids were great and many faced and conquered their fears! Many had never touched or held a hen in their lives and several took on the challenge! The guests were then treated to pizeelles baked by our amazing volunteer Deb made from some of our eggs! We even had some extra mint for them to take home and enjoy at home! Thanks for visiting! If you want to bring your group, we offer free tours on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 am. Email lily@lilykesselman to sign up your group! We would love to have you!

  1. What a beautiful time the kids, parents and teachers had. It was the perfect day of education (learnin' 'bout compost, how to hold a chicken, what vegetable seedlings look like) and FUN (watching flapping feathers slap classmates in the face, tasting REAL mint that comes from leaves, smelling lemon balm, and eatin' pizzelles!). It was great for the group to see the beauty in Da Boogie Down beyond Riverdale. Bronx Chicks Rule and so does Bronx Pride.
